The holidays are such a fun time to spend with family and friends. It’s also such an easy time to give back to those in need. I have rounded up just a few ways you can give back this season, but let me know if there are any more I should add to the list!
Boysville: Boysville supports boys came from broken homes and abusive situations by providing a safe caring home and a chance to gain an education and success in adulthood. On December 14th, the Quarry Village will host their annual Holiday Block Party to support Boysville. Just bring a toy/gift card donation to experience all the fun!
Operation Christmas Child: Every year the Samaritan’s Purse sends shoeboxes to children in need around the world packed with toys, personal care items, and clothing. While it is too late to pack a box of your own you can still pack a virtual box online for just $9. You’ll even receive a tracking number so you can see where you package lands!
SA Reads: The SAReads® Book Bank is working to eradicate book deserts in San Antonio and supplement classroom libraries by giving thousands of books to students, teachers, schools, and nonprofits. The Book Bank relies on community donations to acquire gently used books, as well as volunteers to help collect new books during the SAReads Holiday Book Drive. There is still time to donate or volunteer!
SAMMinistries: SAMMinistries works to help break the cycle of homelessness for families in San Antonio. This year they are providing holiday gifts to more than 500 children who have experienced homelessness. Learn more and get involved here.
Seton Home: The Seton Home serves teen girls who have been removed from their own families by Child Protective Services due to abuse and neglect and are also pregnant and/or parenting a child. Learn more about how you can support them during the holiday season here.
Toys for Tots: Toys for Tots provides gifts for children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Collection sites accept new, unwrapped gifts and a list of sites can be found here.
