The Friday Five

Your weekly dose of weekend adventure:

1. Eat a 1/2 priced dog-of-the-day at Frank!

Frank is serving up a new 1/2 priced dog every day until August 25th. If you haven’t been then now is the time. While you’re at it, I recommend the Ginger Cherry Limeade and Reuben Fries. Let’s fully embrace the dog days of summer.

2. Visit SAMA for FREE!

Did you know that every Sunday from 10:00 AM – Noon the museum offers free general admission!? Beat the heat by wandering the halls

3. Watch at movie Yanaguana Garden.

Catch the fall series opener, Spaceballs, at SouthSouthtown Cinema on Saturday, August 12 from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Southown Cinema is a free community movie series, every second and fourth Saturday at Yanaguana Garden. Movies begin at sundown! Sponsored by Carvana and hosted by Slab Cinema.

4. Volunteer to keep our rivers clean.

The Texas Hill Country River Region and Uvalde County invite you to participate in a Keep Texas Waterways Clean Volunteer Program. Groups of over 6 people can sign up to clean a section of the Frio, Nueces, and Sabinal Rivers. Uvalde County will award groups $10 per person, per hour of cleanup, to the charity of their choice, and also be entered into a drawing for a bonus $500 for that charity, to be drawn at the end of the summer. This event is ongoing until October 1st.

5. Try Thai-style rolled ice cream.

FruitMix is the first place in San Antonio to offer this international sweet treat and you know it is going to look great on your Instagram. FruitMix is open noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed Sunday.

If you try any of these this weekend let me know by tagging #sasherpa. Cheers to being hot while staying cool!
